What Is Professional Tax?
Professional Tax is a direct tax imposed by state governments on salaried individuals and professionals such as doctors, lawyers, chartered accountants, consultants, and traders. The maximum professional tax payable in a financial year is ₹2,500 per person, as prescribed under Article 276 of the Constitution of India.
