Applicability & Eligibility for ESI Registration

Applicability

  • Factories employing 10 or more employees
  • Shops, hotels, restaurants, cinemas, road motor transport establishments
  • Private educational and medical institutions
  • Any other establishments notified by the government

Wage Limit for Coverage

  • Employees earning up to ₹21,000 per month
  • Employees with disabilities earning up to ₹25,000 per month

Online ESI Registration Process in India

ESIC Portal Login

Employer creates a login on the ESIC portal using establishment details.

Step 2

Employer Registration

Basic business information, address, and nature of activity are filled.

Employee Details Submission

Details of eligible employees are uploaded.

Step 4

Code Number Allotment

Upon verification, ESIC issues a 17-digit Employer Code Number.

Step 5

Employee Insurance Number
